Perched on top of the hill looking down on Patitiri you will find ‘Chora’, the old and ancient village of Alonissos. Having enjoyed an extensive and sympathetic restoration since the earthquake of 1965, this beautiful village is almost akin to a film set now, although some old ruins are clearly visible. No longer is it the capital of Alonissos, as most of the local inhabitants moved down to the port after the earthquake, instead it has become one of the must visit villages of Alonissos.
This historic stone built village with its many little churches has a unique atmosphere. From specialist boutiques to traditional tavernas, there is something for everyone. Cobbled streets help to create a labyrinth of intertwined uneven steep walkways ready to be explored. Low comfortable shoes are recommended to fully appreciate what this little gem has to offer.
Spectacular views during the day, contrasting with the atmospheric magic at night. Al-fresco dining under the stars, candle lit bars together with an open air piano bar nestled on a cliff edge. Listen to live music echoing in the streets whilst leisurely strolling picking up the odd souvenir whilst visiting the many café/bars after dinner.
